HawkMan Studios instructors teach classes for pre-schoolers through adults. Classes are offered at the Shasta County Arts Council and at various locations for the Redding Department of Parks and Recreation. Please see the schedules below for class details.
Artist Troy Hawkins will lead children through fun, art-filled 4-week sessions. Each session will teach a different art medium. Students will explore and practice using the materials. In the last class, students will complete and present the final project. Please have you child wear play clothes.
Ages 4 and 5.

In this 9-Class Series, collage and assemblage artist Troy Hawkins, leads you as you explore and practice the techniques that will bring your pieces to life. You'll learn the steps to creating exceptional backgrounds, mastering composition and how to bring your personal story to life. Each step of the way Troy will show you tricks, give you tips and even demonstrate how to build your own frames and shadow boxes.
WEEK 1- Backgrounds: Basics to brilliant
WEEK 2- Transfers: Onto wood, tape and even glass
WEEK 3- Encaustic: Collage, stamping and transfers
WEEK 4- Antiquing: Make new things beautifully aged
WEEK 5- Composition: A place for everything and everything in its place
WEEK 6- Storytelling: How to tell your story using vintage photos, found objects and ephemera
WEEK 7- Assemblage: 3-dimensional collage
WEEK 8 & 9- Artwork: Using these techniques to create your own work. Troy will be on hand to assist and answer questions.

In this 13-week program you will be guided through a process of growth and be shown the tools to unblock your creative process, dismantle negative mythologies, discover your creative force, recognize self-destructive behaviors, and identify their own dreams while laying the foundation to accomplish them. Participants learn how to support and nurture themselves and surround yourself with others that will do the same! This 13-week course is filled with activities to open each participant's creative eye and demonstrate that they too have an inner artist that is yearning to be discovered and nurtured. This program is for people who want to write, paint, sing, draw, dance or act, just to name a few. In this program artists and non-artist alike dissolve blocks by the simple process of engaging in discovering and recovering their creative powers. You will begin to move through self-doubt, negative conditioning and self-destructive behavior and live a more creative, artistically true life.
